Dredger driver and greaserman were arrested by the police while extracting sand illegally from Padma river in Faridpur. Meanwhile, the dredger machine was seized.
On Sunday (June 9) afternoon, a case was filed against them under the Balu Mahal and Soil Management Act and sent to court. Earlier, they were arrested on Saturday night.
The arrested are dredger driver Helal Howladar (32) and greaserman Rakib Ghazi (20). Both of their homes are in Dakope, Khulna.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali police station Hasanuzzaman told Jago News that the driver and greaser of the dredger were arrested by the naval police on Saturday night while illegally extracting sand from the Padma River at C&B Ghat in the city. On Sunday afternoon, a case was filed against them under the Balu Mahal and Soil Management Act and sent to court.
