Child drowned in water, young man drowned in river


A child and a youth died after drowning at separate places in Bhurungamari of Kurigram.

A one-and-a-half-year-old child named Faria drowned in the water of the low-lying land (gher) of fish farming near the house on Monday (June 10) afternoon. Besides, a young man named Jhantu Mia died while fishing in Dudhkumar river early in the morning.

According to the family of the deceased Faria, Faria was playing in the yard of the house on Monday afternoon. Suddenly he goes out of the house to play without everyone’s sight. Meanwhile, he drowned in the water near the house. After searching for a long time, Faria’s mother found him lying in the water. Later, when she was taken to Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared Shishu Faria dead.

She is the daughter of Faridul Islam of Gopalpur village of Dakshin Chhat of Tilai Union number 3 of upazila. Tilai Union Parishad Chairman Kamruzzaman confirmed the truth of this incident to Jago News.

On the other hand, according to the police, Jhantu drowned in the water while fishing with a net on the north side of Sonahat bridge of Dudhkumar river on Monday morning. Around 8 am, a man named Abdul Mannan cast a net to catch fish at that place. When he got into the water, he saw the drowning body of Jhuntu. After receiving the information, the police recovered his body.

Jhantu Mia is the son of Shamchul Haque of Shilbari area of ​​Ward No. 5 of Paikerchhara Union.

Bhurungamari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ruhul Amin told Jago News that the bodies of the victims have been handed over to the families as there were no complaints.
