Death sentence for three including son in case of murder of housewife


Her son Munna Babu killed a housewife named Mumtaz Begum by suffocating her with a rope around Kushtia’s neck for stopping her from consuming drugs. The court sentenced three people including Munna Babu to death in this case. At the same time they have been fined 50 thousand rupees.

On Wednesday (June 5) around 3:30 p.m., Kushtia District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Md. Ruhul Amin announced the verdict in the presence of the accused. Later they were taken to the district jail under heavy police guard.

The convicts are Munna Babu, son of deceased Fazal Biswas, Rabbi Alamin, son of Yashin Ali and Abdur Quader, son of Inchar Biswas of Katdahar Char village of Mirpur police station. Abdur Quader is the uncle of Munna Babu.

The court’s Public Prosecutor (PP) Anup Kumar Nandi confirmed the verdict.

According to the summary of the case, on the afternoon of January 21, 2021, Mumtaz Begum went missing from her home in Katdahar Char area of ​​Mirpur Upazila. In this incident, his brother filed a case in Mirpur police station accusing unknown persons. Later, the Detective Police (DB) arrested Mumtaz’s son Munna Babu on suspicion. Munna told the police interrogation that he killed his mother with the advice and support of his uncle Abdul Quader because she was prohibited from consuming drugs. Later, the body is buried in a sack in the pond near the house. Based on the information given by Munna, the police recovered Mumtaz’s body from the pond.
