Four Indian students drowned in Russia, warning issued


The Indian Embassy in Russia has issued an alert after four students drowned in water. Students have been asked to be careful about this.

The Indian Embassy in Moscow said, “Unfortunately, the death of students due to drowning occurs occasionally.” So far four Indian students have lost their lives in such incidents this year.

A statistic of such deaths has also been released by the embassy. It is said that two such accidents occurred in 2023 and six in 2022.

Indian students in Russia have been warned against visiting beaches, rivers, lakes and ponds under such circumstances. Everyone has been urged to be cautious as well as take safety measures.

Earlier in the day, India’s Ministry of External Affairs announced the death of four students studying at a Russian university. He drowned in Volkhov River.

Our consulate in St. Petersburg is in contact with the university and local authorities and is providing all possible assistance, the ministry said in a statement.
