Lazpharma fined lakhs of rupees for selling unauthorized foreign baby food


A mobile court raided Lazpharma, a drug selling company at GEC junction in Chittagong city. At that time, the company was fined one lakh taka for various crimes including sale of unauthorized foreign baby food products, failure to show proper evidence for importation.

District Administration Executive Magistrate Sadar Circle Assistant Commissioner (Land) Imran Mahmud Dalim led the operation on Tuesday (June 4) morning.

He said that the company did not have production-expiration date on the packaging of other products including baby food. In addition, the product has no weight and cannot show any receipt of purchase.

Imran Mahmud Dalim said that unauthorized foreign baby food was being sold in the company. They could not provide proper proof of import, information of importing company. For these crimes, the company has been fined Tk 1 lakh under the relevant section of Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 and Safe Food Act-2013.
