Like lawyers and doctors, journalists will also need a certificate


Journalists will also need a Press Council certificate like Bar Council certificate for lawyers, BMDC certificate for doctors. A certificate from the Press Council will be available on the minimum graduation pass.

On Monday (June 10) in a training workshop for journalists in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Md. Nizamul Haque Nasim said these things.

He said, to do journalism, you have to be a minimum graduate. However, proposals have been made by keeping the educational qualifications of those who have been in journalism for a long time relaxed.

Chairman of the Press Council said that fake journalists have increased in the country. In order to be saved from the violence of these, real journalists have to come forward. If not, the fish seller, the tea seller will also introduce himself as a journalist. Initiatives should be taken to stop it.

He said that the Prime Minister has formed a welfare trust for journalists. Implementation of 9th Wage Board is also underway. But to get these facilities, you must be a real journalist. Without journalists there is no opportunity to get any facilities.

Press Council Secretary Shyamal Chandra Karmakar, Superintendent of Police Mahfuzul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Vibhishan Kanti Das, District Information Officer Md. Abdus Chattar and others were present.
