Earlier on Tuesday (June 4) congratulating Modi, Sheikh Hasina wrote in a letter, “On behalf of the people of Bangladesh and myself, I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to you for the overwhelming victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA in the 18th Lok Sabha elections.”

The Prime Minister said that your decisive victory is one of the proofs of the trust and faith of the people of India in your leadership, commitment and steadfast sacrifice for the country. I firmly believe that the friendly and close relations between the two countries will continue in all respects as Modi embarks on a rare third term with a renewed popular vote.
