Vapsa heat is increasing discomfort


Since last few days, Vapsa heat is felt all over the country. There was no rain in Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions on Saturday.

On Sunday (June 9), the Meteorological Office said, a mild heat wave is flowing over Rajshahi, Pabna and Madaripur districts along with Khulna and Barisal divisions and it may continue. At the same time, day and night temperatures may increase slightly across the country. Excessive humidity may cause discomfort.

Meteorologist Manowar Hossain said that many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and one or two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chittagong divisions may experience light to moderate rain and thunder with gusty winds temporarily. Along with this, there may be heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.

Forecasting Monday’s weather, he said the ongoing heatwave may continue. Day temperatures may increase slightly and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Excessive humidity may cause discomfort.

Meanwhile, the highest temperature in the country yesterday was 38.4 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga. Maximum rainfall was 257 mm in Sylhet.
