A day after the disappearance, the body of the child was found in the canal


The body of an eight-year-old child named Saidul Islam was recovered from the canal a day after he went missing in Chittagong. On Sunday (June 9) the body of the child was recovered from Nashir Canal in West Gosaildanga under Bandar Thana of the city.

Saidul Islam is the son of Ali Akbar, a rickshaw driver of that area. He was a first class student of Shishu Niketan Government Primary School, Agrabad.

Saidul Islam’s family said that he left home at around 6 pm on Saturday (June 8). Later he was searched in different places but was not found. His body was found in the canal in the morning.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station Manjur Quader Majumder said, the child was missing since Saturday night. Local people saw the body of the child in the canal in the morning and informed the police. Later, the police recovered the child’s body and took it to the hospital morgue.

The OC said the local residents felt that the child might have fallen into the drain while playing because the slab was open. The rest will be known after investigation.
