The much discussed and criticized former police chief Benazir Ahmed’s Savannah Eco Resort and Natural Park and its surrounding land have been taken over by the administration of the two districts. The district administration of Gopalganj and Madaripur took control of the park as part of the implementation of the property seizure order as per the order of the court.
On Saturday (June 8) at noon, Anti-Corruption Commission, Agriculture Officer and Fisheries Officer and Land Commissioners of two districts of Madaripur and Gopalganj visited the scene.
According to several related sources, Madaripur and Gopalganj district administration officials came to the park of former police chief Benazir Ahmed along with officials from various departments on Saturday afternoon. At this time, the top officials of the two districts of the Anti-Corruption Commission were also present. First they visited the park and the occupied land around it. Later he listed all the properties there. The park was taken over to implement a court-ordered property seizure order.
At that time ACC filed a case against a person named Shafiqul Islam in Gopalganj Sadar police station for secretly selling 590 kg of fish from the pond inside the park.
It is known that Benazir Ahmed forcibly occupied several hundred bighas of land in Gopalganj Sadar and Rajair of Madaripur during his tenure as IGP of Police. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case after media coverage of these.

A few locals said on condition of anonymity, “We are very happy that the government has confiscated all the properties of Benazir Ahmed.” But the people here who have forcibly bought the land should be returned to them. By doing this, these people will be able to earn a living by cultivating their crops again.

Officials from various departments of the two districts were present there. All measures will be taken as per the orders of the court.
Assistant Commissioner of Madaripur Rajair Upazila Land Office. Saiful Islam said, we have taken possession of all the lands that have been mutated from the Rajoi Upazila Land Office on the instructions of the district administration. The administration is continuing the activities in all matters as per the order of the court.
Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Marufur Rashid Khan said, I have received a letter of instruction from Dhaka. Acting accordingly.
